On June 19 this year, I planted some cherry tomato seeds. I took them right out of a fresh and juicy cherry tomato, let them dry on a paper towel in my kitchen for a couple of days, and planted them in a pot with ordinary dirt from our backyard. I added a layer of compost to the bottom of the pot to give it something tasty for it to reach for. Later we bought some cheap potting soil and I added a layer of that on the top to keep the underneath soil moist. Potting soil just seems to hold moisture better than regular dirt. I’ve been watering it every day, and this past weekend I was super surprised and thrilled to find this little shoot growing!

I found a sprout on July 14, so it took this little guy almost exactly 25 days from planting to find the sun!
